Ghost of the Ma & Pa [GWD429]

Description
The Maryland & Pennsylvania - the "Ma & Pa" - was a beloved short line. In the 1980s, the Ma & Pa purchased the Pennsylvania Railroad's York-Hanover line and in 1999 the Ma & Pa was renamed York Rail. You are the engineer of a York Rail turn and have arrived at Hanover with set-out and pick-up work to perform before returning toward York. Your power is a single EMD GP9 still wearing Ma & Pa colors.

Scenario duration: Approximately 40 minutes

Scenario requirements: The CSX Hanover Subdivision Route Add-On.

A nice scenario on a fabulous route! Thank you for all the excellent content you provide to TS. The grades make switching a challenge. It seems York Rail got a deal they couldn't resist on a rusty SD40-2 from up north:

tompallen: Glad you found it. I won't disagree that the Geep, with its old style of brakes, is challenging!

I finally found it again, but not on the Workshop tab where Matt said it would be; indeed, the only workshop scenarios listed there were for a different route entirely! Instead, I had to select the Standard tab and then the CSX Hanover Subdivision tab. I enjoyed driving "Ma and Pa", but found that EMD GP9 a chore to drive. It seemed as though a brake system was engaged, making the engine take far more power than expected before it started moving. Thanks for your work!

tompallen: That is odd indeed. I'll mention it to DTG.

I was running and enjoying this scenario yesterday, but today it doesn't show up in TS2021 even though it's still marked subscribed here in the workshop. Peculiar!

High Iron: I had time last night to run the complete scenario. very enjoyable and prototypical. got tripped up on the return by those 10 mph road crossings. must have been hungry.

Greyhawke: Great to hear, thanks, Agreed, working the line in real-life has got to be pretty challenging. Enjoy the route!

High Iron: Thanks for the suggestions. Using hand brakes before the revers move definitely helped. I tried the longer York Rail scenario before coming back to this one. Don't think I'd care to deal with 10 mph and those grades in real life. your switching scenarios are top notch.
